Easter weekend

John and I were very fortunate to spend last weekend celebrating Easter with both of our families. We hit up the Hardages Friday and Saturday and moseyed into Cowtown Saturday evening and Sunday.

We hosted Easter lunch at my parent's house this year. Mammaw even felt up to joining us!

She'll be 93 this June!

Biscuit celebrated as well. She'll turn 14 in June too!

Rosie and my uncle's dog, Charlie, played the entire time. She was worn out when we got back home.

 Apples pic. Love these ladies!

Roses?

One morning, a few weeks ago, I woke up to this:

And this.

Turns out, the rose bushes I assumed were dead, were in full bloom and they smelled lovely. They must be rather resilient since I have not touched them since we moved in. What a delightful surprise!

Weekend in the Fort

John's birthday celebration continued over the weekend as we traveled to Fort Worth and met my parents for lunch at the new West 7th hot spot, Hacienda San Miguel. Great patio with delicious food. And drinks!

Apples.

After lunch we dropped the boys off to watch the Rangers and Mom and I went shopping. We even stopped by for a quick visit with the Mammaw.

Just precious.

One of my best friends, Rebecca, shares the same birthday with John! Saturday night, we met up with friends on the patio at Piola

Obligatory photo shoot courtesy of my mother.

It's always good to see some of my favorite Waco peeps.

After church on Sunday we met John's parents for lunch and continued celebrating his birthday. Kathleen and David generously gifted John with their old lawn mower and weed eater (we've been borrowing a friend's) and we'll be able to round out our landscaping needs with a gift card from them to Home Depot. We're such grown-ups.

Happy Birthday, John!

Yesterday was John's 28th birthday! We celebrated by inviting our friends over for a cookout and it turned out to be the perfect evening to spend time outside eating and hanging out.

(Thanks to my Dad for bringing the extra sets of tables and chairs!)

The bobbleheads even got to come out of their box and celebrate too! They became awesome center and conversation pieces!

"Melissa, the sun is in my eyes."

And sometimes you get tables and chairs and people still stand and eat around the food. We ate hot dogs topped with carmelized onions and sides of potato salad, beans and slaw. And for dessert we created coke floats!

Everything was wonderful and it was so special that MANY friends were able to come!   We're looking forward to celebrating with our families and continuing the birthday into early May when we head to Jerry Seinfeld's Stand-Up Comedy act in Dallas.

Happy Birthday, John!

KC Weekend

Two weekends ago I traveled with Rebecca and Courtney to Kansas City to visit our beloved Emily. It had been too long since we had all been together and it felt right being together again.

In between brunching, shopping, getting pedicures and cooking dinner we talked about anything and everything from the last 9 years of our friendship and left promising another reunion would need to be planned soon.

Cheers to good friends and good times in Kansas City.

Kicking it back to 2005 with Corona Lights, guacamole and hint of lime tortilla chips.
